Dear Diary,
After the war, the British colonies decided that the people who helped the Americans during the war should be punished. This month, an 'Alien Act' (Alien as in foreigners) was passed by Upper Canada's Legislative Assembly. It applied to those who had strong relationships and supported the Americans. They made it illegal to pass the borders of United States after the war began in July 1812. Although it seems unfair, because they didn't know at the time...
Treason
Treason is a serious crime against the government. The people who were found guilty has their property taken away and were sentenced to death, but luckily, there were only fifteen people guilty of this crime. Seven people were deported, and eight were hung... wasn't pretty... And yet, I had to be there to publish the scene on the newspaper. Oh right, haven't I mentioned? I was hired to write an article on the war. Apparently Brock told some people about the amazing stories I had in there, and it was spread around a colony. Although I don't understand why they were so amazing, they actually happened.
Love,
Kristen Taylor

My grandparents told me that many of their friends took the wrong path and they committed treason. They were all hung. My grandmother says that it was not very nice
