Dear Diary,
Britain finished fighting with Napoleon. You might be wondering why I stated that fact, but I was just getting to that. So... since Britain finished fighting with Napoleon, they were able to send reinforcements. The Americans were terrified. But Britain never sent any. Also, Britain stopped the impressment of the American soldiers and ended the blockade in Europe. So there was no reason for the Americans to start a war again. So... WOOHOO!! The war ended. But at least it didn't take 7 years long, like the other one.

The Treaty of Ghent
The ending of the War of 1812 was official by the signing of the Treaty of Ghent in Belgium. (I don't know why it was in Belgium; they had nothing to do with this war.)
Although the odd part was that they didn't mention anything about impressements or blockades, even though that was the main reasons why America attacked us.
The boundaries of United States and Canada were back to normal, and it seemed like a this war never happened. (Besides the burnt houses and destroyed farm lands.)
I guess there are happy endings. (There always are.)
Love,
Kristen Taylor
