Dear Diary,
Another war started when the American's planned to invade Montreal.
Although I think the Americans were having trouble keeping their eyes open or something. Some of them shot their men, killing them. But don't worry, there's more. They miscalculated the size of Britain's army; they thought they were out numbered, but the real story was: Britain was outnumbered! America was about...eight times bigger. But being overestimated, they retreated. This battle wasn't very important, but it made it into my diary because I actually saw happiness between the French and English. Gasp. I never thought this day would come. I guess the only way that they could bond, is if they are on a team together during a critical situation.
I received a letter from a somebody named... Cathe Lyons. I didn't exactly want to send it to them right away; there was so much to see. I wanted to investigate the battle, I have so much to learn. Although I forgot if he gave this to me during the previous battle (Battle of Put-in-Bay - I did not tell you about this one) or this battle. But here's the letter anyways.
We are all alarmed here, the Americans are the other side of Chippawa creak... Appearances are very much against us here, if the fleet does not come, there is not a man to defend this place should the enemy attempt to cross at the same time they make an attack above.... I cannot get even a place to put my things in near the Forts every one is so full, if the enemy is successful, I shall lose everything.
Talk about run on sentences! As much as I want to add punctuation and change some of the words for understanding, I won't. It's his letter, I'm not going to change it. Wow, look at me, correcting people's grammar. Well, I have to go find a new hiding spot; usually after five minutes I have to alternate because I don't want to take the risk of getting killed. Well, bye.
Love,
Kristen Taylor
